Molasses Cookies
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup molasses
3 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water

Mix shortening and sugar

Stir in molasses

Add remaining ingredients, mix well

Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 3 inches apart on a
lightly greased cookie sheet

Bake at 375 F for 9 to 12 minutes
