Ginger Almond Cookies
1 1/2 cups shortening
1 1/2  cup sugar
3/4 cup light molasses
4  cups flour (sifted)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon ginger
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon cloves
1 1/2 cups chopped almonds
 
 
  1. Cream shortening, sugar, and molasses until fluffy
  2. Mix in dry ingredients
  3. Stir in almonds
  4. Roll dough into logs that are about 2 inches in diameter
  5. Chill logs over night
  6. Slice into 1/4 inch slices
  7. Place cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet
  8. Bake at 350 F for 12 to 15 minutes
