Baking with Coffee

  11 egg yolks
  1/2 cup sugar
  3/4 cup Marsala wine
  1 pint whipping cream
  1 pound mascarpone cheese
  8 ounces powdered sugar
  24 plain ladyfingers
  1 1/2 cups Kahlua
  1 1/2 cups brewed espresso
  chocolate curls from semi-sweet chocolate blocks
  strawberries, thinly sliced
  1. In double boiler, combine egg yolks, sugar and wine.
  2. Whisk constantly until frothy and slightly thickened.
  3. Cool mixture to room temperature.
  4. In bowl using electric mixer, combine whipping cream, mascarpone and sugar; beat until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Line a 13" x 9" pan with ladyfingers.
  6. Combine coffee liqueur and espresso.
  7. Drizzle espresso mixture over ladyfingers.
  8. Pour second mixture over ladyfingers
  9. Spread first mixture over second mixture.
  10. Chill until cold
  11. Cut into 12 pieces.
  12. Serve in shallow bowl garnished with chocolate curls and strawberries.
